The Bit Beanie

With the weather getting cooler this cute little beanie is the perfect accessory to whip up quick for everyone!

Materials

  • US J (6mm) hook
  • 1 x Sugar Bush Bold (100% merino wool, worsted weight #4, 190 yards per skein)
    • approx. 70 yds for this project
  • Stitch marker

Abbreviations

  • ch = chain
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • st(s) = stitch(es)
  • sc = single crochet
  • hdc = half double crochet

Notes

  • pattern in US terms
  • beanie is worked in continuous rounds, do not ch or turn at the beginning of each round
  • gauge: 4.5″ diameter after round 5 
  • finished size: adult – approx. 8.5″ x 8.5″ laying flat

Pattern

To Start: magic circle

Round 1: 12 hdc in the magic circle (12sts)

Remember this beanie is worked in continuous rounds. Do not ch or turn at the beginning of each round. Use a stitch marker to keep track of where each round begins is very helpful.

Round 1 Completed

Round 2: 2 hdc into each hdc (24 sts)

Round 2 Completed

Round 3: *1 hdc, 2 hdc in next st *repeat around (36 sts)

Round 4: *1 hdc, 1 hdc, 2 hdc in next st *repeat around (48 sts)

Round 5: *1 hdc, 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 2 hdc in next st *repeat around (60 sts)

Round 6 – 22: hdc in each st around

Round 23 – 25: sc in each st around in the back loop

To Finish: Cut yarn, fasten, weave in ends
