The Mason Jar Cozy – Free Crochet Pattern

Summer is here and I LOVE mason jars for my drinks!! I make a lot of smoothies and mason jars are perfect for sipping all day! These cozies fit the tall 24 oz mason jars, you can find them on Amazon or at your local Canadian Tire or Walmart store.

Materials

  • US G (4mm) hook

  • stitch marker

  • 1 x Caron Cotton Cakes (60% cotton 40% acrylic, worsted weight #4, 530 yards per skein)

  • 24 oz tall widemouth mason jar

Abbreviations

  • ch = chain

  • sl st = slip stitch

  • st(s) = stitch(es)

  • sc = single crochet

Notes

  • pattern in US terms

  • 2″ x2″ gauge: 10 sts x 11 rows of sc in the round

  • the cozy is worked in continuous rounds, do not join after each round

Pattern

To Start: magic circle

Round 1: 8 sc into magic circle – do not join (8 sts)

Round 2: 2 sc into each st (16 sts)

Round 3: 1 sc, 2 sc in next st, repeat around (24 Sts)

Round 4: 1 sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st, repeat around (32 sts)

Round 5: 1 sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st, repeat around (40 sts)

Round 6: 1 sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st, repeat around (48 sts)

Round 7: 1 sc in the back loop of each st around (48 sts)

Round 8 – 36: 1 sc in each st around (48 sts)

Round 37: 1 sl st (loosely – not too tight) into each st around (48 sts)

Cut yarn, fasten, weave in ends
