The “Socket” Slippers – Free Crochet Pattern

These are my spin on everyone’s favourite slippers their Grandma made them … and they are crocheted!

Materials

  • 8mm hook
  • Loops & Threads Bulky Twist (50% acrylic 50% cotton, bulky, 153 yards per skein)
    • One skein needed for each size

Abbreviations

  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • slst = slip stitch
  • st(s) = stitch(es)

Notes

  • pattern in US terms
  • ch 1 at the beginning of each row does not count as a st
  • unless otherwise noted, place the slst in the back loop throughout the pattern
  • gauge: 4″ x 4″ approx. 9 sts x 18 rows

Sizes

  • Small: Women’s 5 – 6
  • Medium: Women’s 7 – 8
  • Large: Womens 9 – 10

Pattern

Make Two

Row 1: leave a 35″ tail (this will be used for the toe and eating the top), ch 27 (29, 31), slst in second ch and in each st across, turn (26, 28, 30 sts)

Size Small
Row 2 – 30: ch 1, slst in each st in the back loop, turn (26 sts)

Size Medium
Row 2 – 32: ch 1, slst in each st in the back loop, turn (28 sts)

Size Large
Row 2 – 34: ch 1, slst in each st in the back loop, turn (30 sts)

All Sizes
Heal: ch 1, sc in every other row at the end. Fold in half and slst to close leaving the last 4-5 sts unworked. Cut yarn and weave in the remaining sts and cinch. tie off.

Toe: Using the tail, weave in yarn along the end of the rows and cinch.

Top: Seam the top of the slipper closed for 12 sts (small), 13 sts (medium), 14 sts (large).

Ankle: Attach yarn at the top back of the heal.
Round 1: ch 1, slst in each st around. slst to first st, turn.
Round 2: ch 1, slst around, slst to first st.

Cut yarn, fasten, weave in ends.
