
The “Tag” Toque – Free Knit Pattern

I first learn to knit when I was a kid. It never really stuck, but ever since I’ve been emerged in crochet I have always wanted to jump back into knitting and make myself a toque.
So here comes the Tag Toque! A very simple and easy pattern using the very simple stockinette stitch with a nice wide ribbed band.
Materials
US 13 (9.0 mm) 16″ circular needles
US 15 (10.0 mm) 16″ circular needles
large faux fur pom pom
yarn needle
stitch marker
1 x Loops & Threads Woolike Chunky (85% acrylic 15% nylon, bulky, 94 yards per skein)
Alternate Yarn: Bernat Beyond, Knitca Chunky & Sugarbush Chill


Abbreviations
st(s) = stitch(es)
k = knit
p = purl
k2tog = knit 2 together

finished size: 7.5″ wide x 9.5″ tall


Pattern
Band
To Start: Using 9.0 mm circular needles, cast on 40 sts using the long tail cast on method
Round 1 – 10: k1, p1, repeat around (place a stitch marker at the beginning of each round to keep track)
Body
Switch to 10.0 mm circular needles
Round 11 – 28: knit around
Crown
Round 29: k2tog, k8, repeat around
Round 30: knit around
Round 31: k2tog, k7, repeat around
Round 32: knit around
Round 33: k2tog, k6, repeat around
Round 34: knit around
Round 35: k2tog, k2, repeat around
Round 36: knit around
To Finish: Cut yarn leaving an 8″ tail. Weave in tail through all stitches and cinch. Fasten and weave in ends.
